THE ASIA AFRICA QUALITY FORUM 2024

Improving Collaboration to Enhance Quality of Health Profession Education in Asia and Africa

A. Background

Since its establishment in 2014, LAM-PTKes has been at the forefront of improving the quality of health profession education in Indonesia. As an independent accreditation body, LAM-PTKes has received recognition from prestigious organizations such as the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), the Asia-Pacific Quality Register (APQR), and the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework (AQAF), and is a proud member of INQAAHE, AQAN, and APQN.

With more than 4,000 health study programs accredited in Indonesia and 4 abroad (Vanuatu, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia), LAM-PTKes continues to drive forward standards for health education globally.

In 2022, LAM-PTKes initiated Bali Meeting 1, fostering collaboration between ASEAN and Asian countries to create a roadmap for improving the quality of health education. Attended by representatives from seven health science groups (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Nutrition), this pivotal event laid the foundation for long-term partnerships across the region.

As a follow-up to Bali Meeting 1, Bali Meeting 2 will focus on expanding this collaboration, bringing in participants from Africa to strengthen ties and promote shared solutions to improve health profession education.
